Parents Helping Parents Releases Updated ‘You Are Not Alone’ Guide for Parents Navigating Foster Care
Parents Helping Parents (PHP) is proud to announce the release of the newly updated You Are Not Alone guide—an essential resource for caregivers whose children have been placed in foster care. First published in 2010 and created by parents with lived experience, this guide continues to be one of PHP’s most requested tools. It has now been comprehensively updated for accuracy, clarity, and accessibility, and is now available as a free digital download to ensure every parent can access it whenever they need it.
The new edition includes:
Fully updated information about the DCF process, court proceedings, family action plans, and parent rights
A compassionate, parent-to-parent voice offering practical guidance and emotional support
New Spanish and Portuguese translations, expanding access for families across Massachusetts
Clear steps, templates, and explanations to help parents understand what to expect during one of the most challenging experiences of their lives
When a child is removed from a parent’s care, the emotional, legal, and logistical challenges are overwhelming—and many parents don’t know where to turn. This guide helps ensure no parent has to navigate that experience alone. Parents can also find additional information and resources on our For Parents With Children in Foster Care page.
