About the Program
PHP’s Parent Support Groups in prisons and jails operate in various correctional facilities in the Greater Boston Area. Our program is designed to help incarcerated parents maintain and strengthen their relationships with their children despite the challenges of incarceration. The groups are trauma-informed and operate on a mutual aid model, where participants support each other through trust, validation, and shared wisdom.
Program Highlights:
Safe Space: Groups provide a confidential and judgment-free environment for parents to discuss their experiences and challenges.
Supportive Community: Participants share strategies and problem-solve family issues together, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
Holistic Approach: The focus is on fostering positive parenting identities and maintaining connections with children, even from a distance.
Testimonial from a Participant
One of our former participants shared a powerful testimonial about the impact of the Parent Support Group:
"Being part of this group has changed my perspective on parenting. I used to feel hopeless and disconnected from my kids, but now I have hope and a plan for how to be a better parent even from here. The support and resources I’ve received have been invaluable. Thank you, PHP, for giving me and my children a chance for a better future."
